Road Trip Back East

So a few months ago Abby and I were discussing various summer vacation options when we hit a brainwave. A roadtrip to Washington DC would not only privide excelent touristy possibilities, but would simultaneously let us meet up with some of our best fiends from our BYU days. Within a week our plans started coming together.

We began our journey by driving the long stretch to Hershey, PA, where we crashed with our good friends the Brueseke's. (yes the town really does smell like chocolate...well, more like brownies fresh out of the oven) Then, with the Brueseke's, we continued on to Washington, DC. There we stayed with our other good friends the Goldsboroughs. What was fun was that they live in an inner-city high-rise appartment complex, and take the metro wherever they go. This was not only convenient, but a fun way to tour the city. Over a period of two days we saw various Smithsonian museums, the White House, all the classic monuments, the Holocost museum, a masonic temple, toured the Capitol, and even went swimming!

On the morning we left DC, we first went through a session in the Washington DC LDS Temple. Very neat!
Upon returning to Hershey, we went to Hershey Park with the Brueseke's. The park was amazing, with lots of thrilling roller-coasters. Unfortunately for us however, we got rained out twice! In the end we rode two rides, and got soaked through in our first experience with PA rainstorms. Although somewhat dissapointing, it was still loads of fun.
Overall we had a blast of a vacation. It turns out that renewing old friendships was the highlight of the week, even though we saw some pretty impressive stuff.

Abby - do you remember the big stuffed bear you gave Jack before you moved? He carries it around and drives it on his trike. He calls the bear "puppy."
