A weekend in Las Vegas

Here is a random conglomeration of photos taken in Las Vegas earlier this month. Amazingly, on Allegiantair.com we were able to find one-way tickets to Vegas for $4! Yeah, so we went. Granted we had to fly out on the evening of the 4th, but hey, I bet we'll never see so many fireworks in one evening! I had to get back to work the next week, so I only stay Friday through Mon. While I was there we spent most of our time swimming. The Thuets don't have a pool, but everyone else on their block does, and since everyone was away for the week, we were asked to "babysit". So we just pool-hopped.
Some of these pictures are: All of us at the pool; Taylor, Reed, Caroline, and Aaron in the water cave; Caroline and me coming up with creative hairstyles; Dave sporting his irresistible goggle face - seriously, who couldn't love him? Us kids playing cards; Jake showing off his new muscular physique on the water; Daniel being clobbered by Caroline, Marky, and little Julia; and then some of us standing around the piano singing hymns on Sunday. Yup, so there ya go. Phew, was it hot! over 110 degrees! Yikes.

After I left Dave and his brothers went disk golfing a few times, he shadowed an orthodontist, and they went water skiing.

Oh, something else fun! After a 3 hour delayed plane flight in which we had to land in an entirely different state due to the Iowa storms, I arrived home a little before midnight, and low and behold, there on my answering machine was a message from two of my favorite people explaining there were on a road trip coming through Iowa and would be there soon. I thought, it's midnight, why not? So I called them and they were about 15 minutes away. Guess who it was? Jenalee and Anna Daines! How delightful was that? They stopped in for a visit, but when I learned they planned on driving another 7 hours that night I insisted they spend the night. So with Dave still in Vegas we had a completely spontaneous, slightly deliriously tired due to long hours of traveling for all involved but still nice, slumber party. What an unexpected treat.

Hooray for Dave wearing a swimming mask and giving kisses. Abby, it is evident that you chose your man for his good looks while wearing aquatic gear.

Currently, Julia, Care and Mark are now enraptured with "Miss Piggle Wiggle" ever since Abby read the chapters and did all of the character voices. Can I book reservations now for a repeat performance?
