I have not met my other new nephew, Collin, so I'm not trying to show favoritism. I have met little Thomas though, and is he funny! Some babies are just sweet, others a handful of energy, and then a few are simply comical. Thomas, I believe, fits into the 3rd category. His perpetually

vaulted eyebrows and wide eyes make you laugh and wonder what is so fascinating about the window curtain? Thomas came to visit for the 4th of July, accompanied by Emily and Greg, of course. Due to the rain most of our plans were canceled, but that was alright. We took a twilight stroll through a park glittering with fireflies (I think this was a favorite with Emily.) Down town was suppose to be fun with the live jazz bands and various food vendors, but again, the rain dampened most peoples festive moods, and

so like most, we stayed only a short time walking around. A little time was spent strolling through the lush green historical "Mormon Handcart Park" where the Saints (and our ancestors in the Willy Handcart Company) began their trek West - the trains didn't come any further than present-day Iowa City and the immigrating Saints were too poor to afford oxen or large wagons so they went on foot. So we visited their memorial park. We went out to eat, had frozen custard, but mostly we just watched Thomas. Bathing him, feeding him, and at one time - I'm sure it would have looked strange to an outsider - four adults all crowded around cooing and laughing at him while his diaper was being changed. Yeah, that was a highlight. So thanks for coming to visit little man. I'm so glad you're stopping by again on your way home in a month, otherwise I'm not sure I would have been to willing to let you leave!
