Yeah! Yippy! Hurray! Paige is super excited. Dave just received a very important phone call. For the last four years he's worked incredibly hard in order to be competitive enough to specialize. For the last 6 months he's worked on his resume, written essays, filled out applications and then waited for schools to invite him out to interview for their endodontic program. FYI, endodontics is the specialization in root canals. So he went out to Kansas City, Missouri; then 2 days later flew out to Seattle, and then the following week interviewed at Iowa. It doesn't look like he'll need to fly out to his interviews at San Antonio or Baylor College (also in Texas.)
As hard as he has worked, Dave has still been incredibly nervous about his chances of getting in. This is a very competitive program, most schools accepting only 2-4 applicants, and what makes it worse is most schools don't accept students straight out of school. They want you to work for at least a year or do a GPR (General Practice residency.) Also, a lot of schools seem to prefer "diversity" giving preference to women and minorities. Understanding that you can see why he was so skeptical of his chances. So when the phone rang a few minutes ago...
Yeah!!! Looks like we'll be in Iowa City for 2 more years!
p.s. We're doubly excited because one of our good friends made it into the same program!

Dr. Flave--Felicitaciones! Fantastico! You brought Paige to the interview, didn't you? The cuteness factor won them over, right? :) Congrats, hermano!
