A great Day!

Yesterday, Saturday, was forecasted to be a bit dreary, but oh! Was it beautiful! Dave and I had a wonderful Saturday! Every year the City of Coralville (Coralville is to Iowa City what Orem is to Provo) has a city wide garage sale. People register their sales and they are plotted on a map along with a brief description of what can be found at their sale. It's brilliant and so convenient because you can save time by visiting only the sales in which you are interested. Another perk to this style of shopping is husbands tend to have more tolerance for it. "Shopping with a purpose" as I've heard it put by both Dave and my Dad. So the two of us awoke early, had a quick breakfast and then were off. I was impressed with how many sales included baby stuff. I tried to stay away from baby clothes - I don't think Dave's stamina would have handled the minutia well - and stuck to baby equipment. Initially we were in search of a used bouncer, among other things, but though we came across several, I began to realize this item was not one I wanted second-hand. They may be washable, but the countless diaper leaks and blow-outs were obvious on a couple and the cat hair that clustered to the other made them all just a bit...yucky. I didn't want to put my new baby in them, so I think a new bouncer has been added to our list.
We did have some good luck, however. At one garage sale we got a navy blue Snugli baby carrier still in the box (they had received a couple of them as gifts and never used this one) and a navy blue Eddie Bower diaper bag - which hardly looked used, and it was just what I was looking for and Dave won't be embarrassed carrying it) - for a grand total of $5. Yeah! The weather was so nice and sunny we just walked, hand in hand, browsing at baby stuff, admiring the beautiful homes and imagining someday having a real home of our own .
By 10:15 we were on our way to the ARC Carnival. This is an annual carnival put on by our ward for the ARC of Johnson County, a support group for families with mentally-handicapped children. Dave manned the football toss while I painted faces and ate 5 cotton candy sticks. Ooooh! I love cotton candy (and apparently, so does the baby.) The only thing unpleasant about the morning was when I was suddenly seized by the most horrible pain shooting up the left side of my back and my abdomen. I could hardly breath and I just about vomited. Poor Dave didn't know what to do, I didn't know what to do! Luckily we had just walked to the car so I didn't have an audience. It last about 5 minutes. I think bladder pressure may have set it off, because this morning, having the same pressure, I detected the same symptoms, but this time I didn't wait to see if the horrendous pain would accompany it. I can still tell I'm sore there, so I try to be careful, but since I don't really know what it was, I don't know what to do about it.
After the Carnival we went home, I took a two hour nap, and talked to my family before they had to go put the finishing touches on my sister Molly's second wedding reception (2nd reception, not 2nd wedding).
Later Dave took out the trash, but I noticed it was taking him a while to return. When he did he took my hand, told me to put on some tennis shoes and come with him. We went outside and there next to his bike was another one! "Let's go for a bike ride!" "What? Where did you get another bike?" "By the dumpster!" He had nearly emptied a can of WD40 onto the chains, made some quick adjustments, and then run up to get me. Now we both had bikes! Granted they're not much to look at - a friend gave away his to Dave and now mine was discarded by the dumpster, but still! We have bikes! And what a beautiful evening for a ride. Everything was so green, the frogs were croaking as we sped past the ponds and streams, the air was just cool enough to need a light sweater, and the sun was just starting to set over the horizon. We only rode for about 15 minutes, but it felt so good to be out! But the evening wasn't over. We got home, got ready, and at 10:30 we took off to go Latin Dancing!
Yeah, you can imagine how attractive I felt with my big belly, but oh it was fun! Just a local bar that has a Latin Dance night Saturday night. We went with a girl from Puerto Rico and her boyfriend from India - phew, were they good. Our feet ached so badly, but we laughed a lot, and sweated even more. At 12:30am we got home, showered, and fell fast asleep. What a nice day.

That is a great day. I thought my day was good because my baby finally pooped after 3 days and now he is happy. But yours totally wins.

I can't argue with a day like that. How nice it must be to live in great place with great people.
