Our Apartment

Whenever speaking to a person it helps if you can at least visualize where they are. I've found when looking at my sisters' blog posts, aside from looking at the subject of their photos, I also enjoy looking around the subject and trying to fit together pieces of their surroundings to form a complete image. I've never been to any of their current homes, so I like to do this. Since no family but Dave's and my parents have been to our apartment here in Iowa I decided to post photos of where we live. There is no other reason for doing this except I think it is interesting seeing where my siblings spend their lives and I thought maybe they'd enjoy it too.
Here they are:
1) The top two photos are the view into the apartment from the front door. One looks out our window and the other shows the kitchen entrance on the left side of the photo (the red curtain draped in the doorway is our way of closing off the kitchen in case visitors come and the kitchen is less than presentable.)
2) The next three photos show the view from the living room into the kitchen/hallway (notice our hanging fish bowl on the wall on the left forefront? Cool, huh?) The kitchen also serves as the hallway to the rest of the apartment. You can see on the left side are the fridge, counters, sink, mini stove, and our washer and dryer - which we use as extra counter space. By the way, those cabinets may look like wood, but their not; they're yellow-painted metal. We know, the lap of luxury. On the opposite side of the hallway are three doors: our bedroom, the pantry, and the 2nd bedroom (or as I prefer to call it, the nursery.)
3) The last two photos show the view from the kitchen into the living room (the long strip of white hanging on the front door is not a bad paint job. It's just an ongoing list of reasons I love Dave.) Oh, and did you notice our floor? Yeah, it's made of ceramic tiles - no carpet anywhere in the apartment except where we've laid rugs. And what about the walls? They are white-washed cinder blocks. Oh, the ceiling is too! But really, we love this little apartment. We've tried to make it feel homey, and I don't think we would be much happier in a nicer apartment than we are here in our little ghetto one...well, I'm not totally sure about that. Carpet would make me very happy. And maybe a full-size oven.
