HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!

Daddy is 29! Can you imagine a person being that old? Soon it will be sagging skin and aching joints. Tsk tsk. What a shame. Oh, well, I had a fabulous time celebrating his birthday. Mommy and I had a couple of fun surprises for him. A friend of mom's came over with her baby girl and together we all made yummy cupcakes in a "sleep-over party" theme (with multi-color neon cake batter inside.) They looked pretty good. In fact, I have to hand it to mom, but she didn't eat a single cupcake and didn't even taste the frosting, or candy, or cake batter, or anything sweet the whole time she was making them or once they were done. Mommy and a couple of her sisters agreed to all try and go a full month without eating refined sugars or refined wheat. Only whole grains and only sweetness found naturally in fruit; she is a berry popper! Every time she has a sugar craving, in pops a handful of berries. She started July 5th, so... not too far into it, but trust me, she has been going through withdrawals - the first 2 days were bad. Anyway, I'm proud of her (though she did eat a slice of non-whole wheat pizza that some friends brought over for daddy's b-day, but still no cupcakes.) OK, so back to daddy's b-day.

His other, bigger surprise came as a complete shock. An electric piano! Mommy had it all set up and ready go when daddy walked in the door. Daddy loves to play hymns but doesn't have much opportunity. And I recently learned that I LOVE to pound the keys. So when some friends announced they were selling their full length keyboard with weighted keys, foot pedals, bench, and stand... mommy thought of daddy and me and bought it. It really was a total surprise. Mommy loves my dad so much. I do too. He loves us and is good and kind and fun. We are so happy he was born. Happy birthday daddy! We love you!

Happy b-day!

I am doing two weeks of no sugar/refined flour. After that once a week. I think that will be easier to live with for a while.
