Our baby's nursery

Whenever I look online at baby decor, I think "Wow, now that's a nursery!" Well, my nursery doesn't look anything like those. Our "nursery" will also serve as my craft room, our extra
storage place, and our food storage (the food is in the closet.) I have witnessed the creation of adorable nurseries, despite limited means and space, from the amazingly creative women in our ward. Well, again, mine isn't like theirs'. Nevertheless, I'm pleased with how it has turned out and excited for it to finally be inhabited.
Thank you for all the input on swings and bouncers. After reading hundreds of reviews on all styles of both I've decided that most baby products, despite their expensive price, are cheaply made and therefore all of them have similar complaints made about them, but still, I found a swing I'm excited about. I got it used at a consignment store and tested it out with lots of weight in it. I was impressed with how clean it was, and considering it is used, at least that tells me the motor is strong enough to last a few months since it is still running. It swings both front-to-back as well as cradle style, and can be plugged into the wall as well as batteries. Those were two of my top priorities.

Other than that no major purchases (we're borrowing the mobile). I've basically decorated with things from around the house. We had a really ugly lamp in the room, so I covered it in pink tissue paper and embellished it with the ribbon my sister Natalie wrapped my baby shower gift in. Then I wrapped the tacky gold lamp stem with more ribbon I purchased a long time ago from the Dollar Store.

Hanging from the ceiling on both sides of the window I used some tissue paper flowers my sister Emily made for my baby shower.

Her 0-6 month dresses and sweaters are
hanging in the closest, but my sister lent me a ton of her little girl's things, so where to put them? In a trunk of course. How to organize it? Well, if you get a close up look at the trunk you'll see I organized it with removable wire shelf layers - (extra wire squares from a wire bookshelf we have), so you can see what is on the lower layers and then just lift out the square to access
them without having to dig. Plus each pile of clothes is labeled. I know it's silly, but I am so proud of this little bit of organizing. The moment Dave got home I dragged him in to see witness my ingeniousness. Plus the top layer is the perfect place to lay her burp cloths and blankets. Oh, and when
not in use I simply cover the trunk in a pink patchwork quilt I made.

On the bookshelf I keep her clothes in labeled clear totes for 0-3 and 3-6 month clothes. Once the 0-3 are over I'll put them away in the trunk and trade them out for the 6-9 month and then I'll have 3-6 and 6-9 month out. These clear tubs are also where I keep her socks, shoes, and hats.

As for her random baby items, they hang behind the door. I just hate digging in drawers! I want clear boxes or things hanging so I can see everything at a glance.
So that's our nursery. No color scheme, no cute theme, just a room thrown together. Maybe that's my theme "Thrown together from stuff around the house." Now we just need a baby...

That swing is WAY nicer than the used one we have. I am jealous because our YMCA has the one you bought and Collin loves it. The room looks great. Hope you liked your gifts.

Can't wait for this little girl!!!!
