Photos of Paige Abigail Thuet!

We just came home to unload our labor/delivery stuff and to repack our NICU bags. We'll be spending the next little while in NICU until they figure out what's wrong with Paige. Last night she had a couple of coughing fits that left her unable to breathe and turning blue, but other than that she seems to be doing well so the plan is to observe her for awhile and see if they can get some clues. They let me start nursing her again this afternoon and that is also the first time I've held her since yesterday morning. Even after she was done I just held her - tubes and all - until I had to go check out. I have a much easier time looking at her now that her oxygen tubes have been removed from her nose. Apparently the doctor went in to check on her last night and she had dislodged the tubes and was eating them instead. Obviously they weren't that important so they took them away. She still had a feeding tube in her nose that runs directly to her stomach and this is how we've been feeding her - I've just been pumping every couple of hours and giving her anything I can. The nurses at the NICU are so good. When Dave went to visit her last night she was all bundled up like a bug (instead of in only a diaper and a heat lamp) and they had placed a "Zacky" on her chest (a weighted bean bag in the shape of a hand to make her feel like someone's hand is on her), and there was soft lullaby music playing. I've felt much better after my emotional breakdown yesterday (sorry about that) and I've just tried to focus on how happy I am that she's here. I'm so excited to have her! And I've just tried to think past this time and imagine getting her home, bathing her, taking her to the zoo, going on walks, baking her first birthday cake and watching it get all over everything... it's going to be OK.

P.S. We technically aren't suppose to have cell phones on in the NICU, but we'll try and have them on vibrate mode. We won't be able to answer while we're with Paige, but we'll try and make it out to the waiting room occasionally to return phone calls. So if we aren't answering our phones for the next few days, that is why. Sorry.

She is absolutely beautiful! I wish I could hold her and whisper in her ear just how much Grandma in Las Vegas loves her. Thank you for the pictures. Please whisper for me, would you? Our prayers are with you both and for our newest little granddaughter.
Love, Grandma Thuet

I don't know if I have ever seen a lovelier newborn. She looks like a c-section baby. Why isn't she all scruchy? :)

Oh what a little angel. She is adorable. Congratulations you two. I am so sad that I won't get to be there to see her in a few weeks when you actually bring her into public. So glad she is doing better.
